Beast (ビースト Bīsuto?) is the UMA that embodies beasts. He is also known as the "Ninth Master Rule UMA". He serves as the main antagonist of the Unstoppable Arc.
Appearance[]
Beast appears as a tan-skin human wearing a wolf pelt cloak and hood along with loincloth and fur bands on his arms and legs. The fur and appearance of the hood can change depending on the animal Beast chooses to transform into (becoming reptilian scales when Beast transforms into a snake). He also has sharp teeth and constantly wears an angry expression.
In his Phase 3, his form takes that on an armored, flying humanoid.
Personality[]
Beast, as his name suggests, has a savage and beastly nature. He looks down on the weak, and believes in the Laws of Nature, that the weak serve to be food for the strong. He also remains crouched on his seat instead of seated propel, indicating his more "bestial" nature when compared to the other Master Rules, which he simply sees as God's way of making humans suffer. He cares greatly for nature, given his disgust at how Top and Fuuko's fight destroyed the landscape, and calls them "privileged" for being vessels. He is also sadistic, and holds a grudge, wanting to decapitate Fuuko and show her head to Andy as payback for keeping the Master Rules locked up in the sun for years.
Plot[]
History[]
Like all other UMAs, Beast was created by God at the beginning of the loops, when he began adding rules to the newly created world to test humans. After Death, Change, Luck, Justice and War were added to pit humans against each other, God decided to add the Beast rule to pit them against a different enemy and lead them to consider themselves special.
Sick Arc[]
When Fuuko manages to go through Move's portal into the Master Control Room, Beast remains quiet aside from expressing some disappointment at Fuuko learning of Andy's location on the Sun.
Unjustice Arc[]
Along with Language, Beast appears as the target of a Quest where he must be neutralized. The reward being the addition of two roundtable seats indicates he will be extremely difficult. Nico initially suggest passing on the set, since it involves two master rules, but the penalty being the addition of Revolution makes Fuuko agree to take them. The need to defeat two Master Rules motivates Fuuko to find Julia U. Stitia, the reincarnated Juiz, as she concludes that Unjustice will be key in clearing the Quests.
Unstoppable Arc[]
When the Master Rules are told by Apocalypse that it and Sun wish for all ten Superior Rules to descend with only a minimum of two required, Andy appears and uses his soul to keep them all back. Andy then lets go of Beast and Language while fighting against the first Master Rule, allowing them to escape just as the gate above them closes. Beast descends to Brazil as a shooting star, near where Top lives. He attacks with a sonic roar as the thief reconvinces with Haruka as she reinforced his house with Unbreakable from Fuuko's stroke of Unluck. Top only survives because she protected him at the last moment, with her eardrums being destroyed in the process. He states how "privileged" the negators are for destroying nature and prepares to take Fuuko's head as payback for Andy keeping him and the other Superior Rules sealed up.
Fuuko fights a losing battle against Beast, his strength and a lack of a Negator counterpart getting the better of her. However, she has Haruka and Top join the fight by giving them her points, making them 12th and 13th seats temporarily. When Top tries to negotiate with the UMA, he reveals that all animals were created by God to make humans suffer. He then reveals some of the origins of humanity, as well as some of his fellow Superior Rules in the process. He then summons tigers that slash at Haruka, allowing him to gain an Unbreakable wolf pelt that can ignore Fuuko's Bad Bullet before grabbing onto her. Top feigns surrender to get drop on him, trying to get pass his "Unbreakable" pelt by ramming him against Haruka's helmet.
Top only success in pushing him back to the ocean, where Beast eats an octopus and manages to fling Top off, leaving the runner helpless as Beast summons more animals. Before the animals can finish Top off, they are stopped thanks to Fuuko realizing his "Animal Control" lies in using "Soul Chains", and manages to serve them with Julia's saber. Beast then summons a blue whale to sallow everyone, but Fuuko fires a Soul Bullet to imbue Unluck on it, actually shocking Beast. Realizing the danger she possess, Beast transforms into his Phase 3, reviving prehistoric animals and imbuing them with his Unbreakable. However, Fuuko has Haruka looking inside herself and speak to the past Isshins to improve her own Unbreakable, granting Top armor that can destroy Beast's assimilated ability. With it, Beast is defeated thanks to a stroke of Unluck caused by Top ramming straight through him, ending the Master Rule once and for all.
Abilities[]
- Destructive Roar: With his roar, Beast can create a destructive supersonic shockwave. The power of this attack is enough to stop an landslide and damage the body of a strong person like Haruka Yamaoka.
- Animal Control: Using his soul, Beast creates Soul Chains with which he can connect to nearby animals, who will then follow his every command, from attacking targets to maneuvering to keep unwanted intruders out. The longer he stays on Earth, the more animals appear around him, such as summoning tigers to an area where such an animal shouldn't live naturally. Beast's Soul Chains are normally invisible, but can be seen with enough concentration, even being able to be cut to free controlled animals from his control.
- Prehistoric Lifeform Control: When Beast reaches Phase 3, his animal control ability expands, allowing him to summon even extinct animals, such as pteranodons and anomalocaris. These animals are not controlled by Soul Chains and can acquire the abilities Beast has assimilated.
- Animorphism: Upon eating different animals, Beast's pelt can turn into said animals for different attacks. The transformation can be complete (he managed to transform into a giant snake) or only partial (by devouring an octopus, Beast only manifested its tentacles).
- Ability Assimilation: By eating a piece of someone, Beast can gain their power. Beast manages to do this by devouring a piece of the owner's soul along with the flesh; since memories and experiences are etched onto the user soul, this allows Beast to bypass the activation conditions of the ability and allowing him to use it immediately. By devouring a piece of Haruka's flesh, Beast gained an unbreakable wolf pelt, despite the ability normally requiring years of training to use.
