—Billy to the Union, Chapter 31 |
Billy Alfred (ビリー=アルフレッド Birī Arufureddo?) was the leader of Under and former member no. 3 of the Roundtable. In the current loop, he sits in the 4th seat of the 101st round table and a Negator with the alias Unfair.
Appearance[]
Billy is a tall, well built man with slicked dark-brown hair that has two hair strands hanging in front of his face (a longer hair strand hanging on the right side and a shorter hair strand hanging on the left side), gray eyes and a slight stubble around his chin.
Initial Appearance[]
In his first appearance, Billy wore sunglasses and a hitman-like attire with his black jacket usually hanging over his shoulders like a cape.
Later Appearance[]
When Billy was revealed to be a traitor, he started letting his hair down and no longer wearing his sunglasses, revealing that he has golden-yellow eyes. After being hit by a disintegration beam from Spoil, half of his face was now perpetually rotting.
Personality[]
Billy is shown as a cool and carefree guy who seems to not mind being in danger or even realizing he was in the first place. He is shown to be knowledgeable of guns and he is a self-admitted "true lover of sweets", going as far as to create the "Long Cake Bar" that he gives to Tatiana when they first met.
Under his guise as Under's Leader, he acts cold and calculating. However, he only does this in order to keep his friends in Union from suffering anymore and slay God by himself by using their abilities.
Plot[]
Billy lost his wife Veronica and daughter Betty in an accident and struggled to "atone" by forming the mercenary group Horizon Balance, fighting wars to help the world. Eventually, his group is hired to steal a superweapon known as Disc, but Billy plotted to steal it from his sponsors and use it to become the sole enemy of the world, in the hopes of creating a "fair world". However, his injured are killed when Tella's Untell manifests just before the radioman can alert anyone of incoming enemies, and Creed's own men are abandoned and killed when his superiors use his manifesting of Undecrease and the theft of Disc to start bombing everything, leaving the three for dead. As a bitter Creed fires on Billy and Tella, his Unfair manifests and copies Undecrease before eventually fighting the abandoned solider to a standstill and convincing him to join him and Tella.
Later, at his wife and child's grave, he is approached by Juiz , who wants him to join her Union. While he agrees, he lies about his Negator ability to help achieve his goals of a better world. However, he doubts the members of the Union, some of them being kids, in defeating God, and ultimately forms Under with help from Tella and Creed so the burden of slaying God falls on them.
Unchange Arc[]
Billy is introduced as sitting in seat number 3 and defending himself against Andy's Finger Bullets by using Tatiana's suit as a deflection while firing his gun.
Spoil Arc[]
Tatiana attacks Andy for killing Gina, but Juiz d'Arc makes them stop by forcing Andy to point his sword at Fuuko while Tatiana to point her guns at Billy. Tatiana agrees to stop as she didn't want to kill Billy, who acts nonchalant, barely reacting when he notices he’s about to die.
As Apocalypse gives them their new quests, he along with other members took on UMA Burn and Eat quests.
Later when Spoil is captured, Shen calls The Union for help, all members of the roundtable arrive to fight Victor, including Billy. Using the shield created by Tatiana, Billy made his bullets ricochet and hit Victor from multiple angles. He and the other members continue fighting him while protecting Fuuko until she manages to activate her ability and defeat him.
Unrepair Arc[]
Billy appears in Tatiana’s flashback, saving her from the Mafia and feeding her the long pastries he made. After Fuuko and Tatiana become closer friends, Billy thanks Andy for helping, to which he simply replies he "didn't do anything".
Unbelievable Arc[]
When the Four Seasons Quests are revealed along with their penalty being Revolution, Billy bluntly suggests using nukes to kill three of the UMAs regardless of civilian casualties, horrifying the other Union members who quickly oppose the suggestion. Billy gets up and proclaims none of them have what it takes to kill God and opens fire on them, wounding Isshin. He is restrained by Andy and Shen, but his comment about Isshin enrages Top, who breaks his neck with a kick. Everyone thinks this kills him, but he suddenly stands up and declares he will be the one to kill God, whereupon Burn, with Latla and Rip on his shoulders, bursts through the ground and grabs the Roundtable. Tatiana says that "that can't be Mr. Billy" because he repaired himself and Billy's negation is Unbelievable, which only affects guns. He offers Tatiana the chance to join him, but Fuuko shoots him and Tatiana remains silent, to which he simply says that she is now an enemy and calls her Untouchable instead of her name.
Immediately after, Top tries to attack him again, but Billy moves just as fast and kicks him away. Shen, Juiz and Andy get on the Roundtable to attack him, but they are instead forces to retreat, attack themselves and attack someone else respectively, which Juiz identifies as the effect of her Unjustice. Burns swats them away and continues to fly towards the surface to escape. Andy brings Fuuko with him to get past Latla's ability, shooting Andy's head into Burn's mouth while loaded with Unluck, causing magnetic wires to misfire and stun Burn, who also gets frozen and impaled with an Unbreakable pillar, causing him to begin falling. Andy, now back outside Burn, punches Billy with such force it spins his head around, but he simply repairs himself using Undead. Using Unjustice, Billy manages to divert Andy into saving Fuuko, buying enough time for Burn to recover and reach the surface.
He clashes with Tatiana just above Union where she asks him what he's doing, trying to understand his betrayal, but he simply says that she doesn't matter and uses Unjustice. However, since Tatiana doesn't want to hurt him, Unjustice causes her to use Area Release and push Billy into Burn while also throwing Apocalypse from the Roundatable where Fuuko catches it. Without both the Roundtable and Apocalypse, neither side can accept Quests or Rewards - Billy concedes the draw, saying he only needs it before the deadline and that he will be the one riding Ark, which no one is aware of. He then flies off with Burn and the Roundtable.
Winter Arc[]
While Feng is sent to deal with Summer, Billy and Tella camp around Winter with Burn's core. They plan to hold Winter hostage to force the Union to negotiate. Later, Juiz arrives through one of Move's portals and talks with Billy, asking him to join the Union once again. She explains to him Ark can only carry one person and it only has enough energy left for one more trip, mentioning it took her these 100 loops to get to this point and, even though Billy's ability is stronger than hers, he has no chance of winning by himself. Billy agrees, but says he still can't join and uses a Cube to push Burn into Phase Two instantly, whereupon Juiz reveals she brought Spoil's core and uses her own cube, making the UMAs fights while she engages Billy. Juiz has the upper hand and Spoil manages to land a Disintegration Beam on Billy. Juiz derides him for not using her Unjustice and "holding back", but Billy reveals he isn't using it because he can't anymore, since Juiz still believes in him. Juiz's own use Unjustice causes Billy to cut off her arm, forcing her to retreat alongside Spoil.
Spring Arc[]
After Summer is killed and the world becomes covered in snow due to the temperature imbalance, Fuuko gives herself as a hostage to Tella in exchange for them killing Winter using Burn to avoid the expected mass casualties. They agree and Fuuko is taken to Under's base inside Kain.
As per his original plan, Billy commands Creed to fire a nuclear missile at Spring's location, intending on using Undecrease to keep firing until they're sure Spring is dead. However, as the missile approaches, Spring uses the Kofusai to disable the missile. Since it wasn't "spent", Undecrease doesn't trigger and they have no more missiles, resorting to a direct raid.
During the raid on Spring, Andy faces off against Billy after rescuing Fuuko and sending her to the top of the tower. The fight is close, even forcing Billy to reveal his copy of Unchange. Ultimately, Andy pushes the fight into the water, so even though protected by Unchange and Undead he releases the barrier and finds Andy pointing a Finger Bullet at him point-blank. Billy tells Andy that its unfair that weaker members have to suffer in the fight against God, that it should fall on the strong, to which Andy replies that they are all strong, pointing at the quickly receding cherry blossoms; an indication that Fuuko is engaging Spring and the UMA is starting to take her seriously. Andy allows himself to be captured in an Unchange barrier to watch the battle. Through each of Spring's games, Billy is impressed by her determination, as well as that of all the other negators, even those he originally labelled as weak. When Spring is forced to enter Phase Three by God, Billy helps extract his core so that Fuuko may kill him and joins in on the viewing party. In the process of extracting Spring’s core, he was cut in half vertically, removing the half of his body that was spoiling and giving him his normal appearance back.
Ragnarok Arc[]
After Fuuko Izumo is stabbed by Ruin, Billy commands Tella to bring them to the Roundtable as per Juiz d'Arc's instructions. Juiz exchanges her points so that Fuuko and Andy are moved one week into the future so that the addition of Ghost may help save her. When they return, the Roundtable is back at Union HQ, implying Under has been integrated into it.
Once Ragnarok starts, he helps defend the Roundtable from Ruin, even managing to copy Unruin to replace his now lost copy of Undead. He apologizes to Tatiana and tricks Top Bull Sparx and Chikara Shigeno into hating him so he may copy Unstoppable and Unmove once again. He manages to repel Ruin while Fuuko prepares to loop with Ark and helps to stop God from interrupting the charge and sending Fuuko to the next Loop, whereupon he is killed during the Earth's destruction.
Negator War Arc[]
Billy is mentioned a few times as one of the Negators Fuuko Izumo wants to save in order to build "the ultimate Union", with it eventually being revealed that he is currently fighting in a war where the artifact Remember is located. According to Fuuko, his powers manifest along with Tella and Creed Deckard, acting as a "domino effect". Saving all three in order to recruit them is vital in Fuuko's attempts to build the Union, necessitating the Union recruiting Yusai, Isshin the 12th and Sean Datz to enter the war. As the Union's interference drastically changes the outcome of the war, even getting Creed on their side, Billy, after helping a now-mute Tella calm down and learning what happened, decides to sneak aboard Disc to uncover the Union's intentions.
Approaching Fuuko, he is immediately forced into a fight to prove their worthiness to fight side-by-side and not betray them later, but after seeing Tella's usage of Untell, he opts to join them if she can beat him in a quick draw match. He loses when Disc starts to fall, and seeing her allies' trust in her causes him to manifest Unfair under new conditions. After losing, he helps Fuuko protect Nico from the now falling Disc due to a stroke of Unluck, but is forced to flee when Ichico uses astral projection to separate Nico's soul from his body, allowing it to take the blow. Afterwards, he, Tella and Creed laugh at both the super weapon and island's destruction and officially join the Union.
Unfeel Arc[]
Billy is brought in as an "objective" opinion to help decide who should go for the rescue mission into space. It's ultimately Billy's choice of Fuuko Izumo, Nico Vorgeil and Creed Deckard that goes to space and save Phil Hawkins and his mother.
Untruth Arc[]
Billy arrives to take part in the Tenraisai, eliminating all the opponents in his blocks. After Fuuko's Unluck makes Shen fight against all of the Negators, Billy is the last opponent before Fuuko. However, Shen knocks him out easily before he can do anything, much to his disappointment. He later helps save Mui and Shen from the effects of Untruth alongside the rest of the Union and Feng Kowloon. He is later chosen by Fuuko as part of the mission to save Chikara from his tragedy by hijacking the school, acting as the history teacher.
Unmove Arc[]
Billy isn't shown much during the arc, but he does his part in looking after Chikara before and after he awakens Unmove. But when UMA Colour appears nearby, he and the rest of the Union are forced to leave the school, leaving Chikara behind due to Fuuko not wanting him to be hurt again.
Sick Arc[]
Billy shows alongside the rest of the Union as cavalry against Sick, although even together, the Master Rule still keeps fighting.
Unchaste Arc[]
Billy, Tella and Chikara are trailing Tatiana in Russia as she walks with parents but they return to Union HQ when Fuuko set the band plan in motion.
When Fuuko brings Kaede to the Union, Billy, Tella and Rip are training to be in the band under Nico's supervision. Nico is using various psycho-pods to teach them how to play instruments and is currently attempting to overcome Unforgettable's self-targeting restriction to further develop their skills as quickly as possible, resulting in a brutal training regime that leaves everyone exhausted and with deep eye bags.
Later, as they gets ready to perform Kurusu appears and uses her newly evolved Unchaste on the group, causing them to fall in love with her and join her team, as Billy now remembers her as his wife instead of Veronica. Shortly after, Latla and Veronica appear through one of Move's portals. Veronica is wielding a shotgun pointed at Billy's head but when Fuuko surmises that Unchaste's activation condition and effect have changed everyone calms down.
Abilities[]
Unbelievable (
Unfair: Billy's true Negator ability. He has the ability to copy other Negator's abilities if his targets view him as a threat until the Negator War Arc where it is changed that he can only copy those who he sees as strong. He negates the fairness of a person having only one ability. Copied abilities include:
- Unstoppable: Billy has copied Top Bull Sparx's Unstoppable, allowing him to move at high speeds.
- Undead: Billy has copied Andy's Undead, allowing him to regenerate from severe damage.
- Unjustice: Billy has copied Juiz's Unjustice, allowing him to negate other people's sense of justice. He has since lost this ability.
- Unmove: Billy has copied Chikara Shigeno's Unmove, allowing him to negate other people's movement within is line of sight or where he can hear.
- Unbalance: Billy has copied a certain architect's Unbalance, allowing him to negate the balance of buildings.[2]
- Unchange: Billy has copied Gina Chamber's Unchange, which he uses to create invisible barriers from unchanging air.[3] May also have acquired it from the New Unchange.
- Undefinition: Billy has copied a certain negator's Undefinition, allowing him to negate the definition of things, including Blood's shape.

- Untell: Billy has copied Tella's Untell and use it along with him to prevent Disc from crashing to the surface.
- Unbreakable: Billy has copied Isshin's Unbreakable, but items he makes through it can still be broken. Isshin explains he doesn't have "the soul of Unbreakable".
Equipment[]
Handguns: Billy wields four to six revolvers at a time, likely utilizing Unchange to fight with them and keeps two on his back.
Spurs: Billy wears spurs on his shoes to help him visualize his surrounding through noise, which were made by Nico Vorgeil. After gaining vision through Undead , he no longer has use for them.
Relationships[]
Tatiana[]
It is implied that Billy became a father figure to Tatiana after rescuing her from being sold off in an auction and he has shown to be quite close to her, watching out her well-being, feeding her through her barrier (due to her ability Untouchable) and smiling after Fuuko Izumo and Tatiana become friends.
After Billy reveals that he is the mole for Under, he offers for Tatiana to join him, but she ultimately doesn't take it due to being hurt by his betrayal. This leads him to consider her an enemy to him and calls her by her alias Untouchable rather than by her real name.
In Chapter 118, when Tatiana was about to be killed by Ruin, Billy suddenly drops in from the ceiling (while calling her by her real name Tatiana rather than by her alias) and saves her by destroying Blood with Undefinition. After doing so, he referred to her as "my little girl" and tells Ruin that "You're about to experience... an unspeakable level of humiliation, courtesy of yours truly."
In Chapter 121, Billy apologizes to Tatiana for all the terrible things he has done.
Etymology[]
- The name Billy is likely a pun alluding to the name of his negator ability, “Unbelievable”, like the names of many other negators. However, that is not his real ability, making him the only negator named after an ability they do not have.
- Billy's surname Alfred in Japanese could be a play on the phrase "all's fair", alluding to the name of his real Negator ability Unfair.
