—Juiz to the Acks leader, Chapter 20 |
Juiz d'Arc (ジュイス=ダルク Juisu Daruku) was the previous leader and a founding member of the Union, she held the No. 1 seat as a Negator with the alias Unjustice.
Appearance
Juiz is a beautiful young woman with golden-yellow eyes and waist-length pale pink hair that flows freely from under her helmet while hanging on the left side.
She is dressed in a black and gold general's uniform with white gloves and a helmet covering the upper half of her head that displays the Union's Emblem. Her helmet has a visor that covers her eyes completely; it can be removed by the press of a button, moving the top of the helmet upwards until a slit opens up to reveal her eyes. [2][3]
In previous loops, she is shown also wearing more casual outfits when on outings with Victor.
Personality
Juiz is confident in the actions she takes and has a very strong sense of justice. Being the leader of the Union, she was very steadfast and dutiful, managing to easily destroy an army's fleet to protect the Earth.[4] She was also determined to kill the being on the other side of Apocalypse, gathering several Negators in order to gain enough power to defeat it, thus forming The Union.[5]
She's also something of a crybaby beneath it all, sensitive to the suffering her fellow Union members go through, especially Victor. According to Luna, she would break down and cry every time she rode the Ark to the next loop.
It is shown that she also had a certain fondness for Apocalypse, despite him technically being an enemy, confiding in him some of her hopes for the future; even to the point that despite his complaining, Apocalypse could be held by her without him using his memories to overwhelm her.
Plot
History
Juiz was "born" in the very first loop along with Victor. When the first loop was hours away from being destroyed and then being reformed, Juiz and Victor discovered the Roundtable and encountered Luna, who informed them that who told them that "glitches" had formed in the world and human vessels were needed to contain them. Juiz was chosen to be the vessel for Justice by Luna. She learned that the Roundtable would allow one of them to be able to survive with their body and memories intact, but the other would die. Victor volunteered to be the one to die and be reborn, promising he'd come find her in the next loop. However, Victor suddenly declared he would do so by becoming Undead, to his confusion. Unknown to the two, Juiz's newly granted Unjustice had negated Victor's sense of justice at the time (to die to be reborn) to "volunteer" to become the vessel for Death, which Luna granted. Shortly after, Juiz was confirmed to become the first seat and thus given the privilege to loop.
Upon looping to the next loop and the beginning of the "game", Juiz cries learning that Victor suffered for millions of years in the cold of space and the burning of the new Earth due to being unable to die. Together, they would form the Union throughout the loops in an effort to defeat God, only to fail every time.
Eventually, during the 100th loop in the town of Longing, Victor, who fell into despair about killing God, tries to kill her as they were retrieving the Artifact Remember so she could live the last loop in peace. However, Juiz used Unjustice to instead erase Victor's memories by forcing Remember in the seal function into his forehead, rendering him unconscious - this eventually leads to Andy's creation as a product of Undead trying to circumvent Remember's effect.
She would then go on to form the 100th Union without him. As a result of this, she keeps secrets about God and the Loops to herself in fear of the incident repeating. She scouts several members of the Roundtable, personally recruiting Top and Billy. At some point she also finds and tames Move, with her promising him interesting fights to watch in exchange for use of his portals.
Spoil Arc
As Andy and Fuuko arrive at the Roundtable, Andy shoots fingers at everyone and Juiz cuts his finger in two. She then welcomes them to the Union, but as Tatiana was angry for Andy killing Gina Chamber, she attacks him and Juiz makes Andy point his sword at Fuuko while Tatiana makes her point her weapons at Billy and they agree to stop.
They sit on the table and Juiz calls for Apocalypse, who gives them new quests. She tells Nico to analyze it and he tells them they should focus on the first three and prioritize Burn and drop Spoil. Juiz agrees to the plan, but as Fuuko wonders on why they should play those games, Juiz explains that 98 times rules were added to Earth and even if they don't participate, each three months new rules will be added. So they decide to take action and strengthen themselves and one day be able to kill the god that forces them playing this game. Juiz explains that Fuuko can take leadership if she surpasses her achievements and results. Andy decides to take Spoil, disagreeing with their plan, while Juiz decides to participate in capturing of UMA Burn, Eat and Past.
After finishing her quests and Andy's group has captured Spoil, Shen calls the Union to help him stop Victor. Upon arrival, Juiz comments that Andy was troublesome newbie. They engage him in combat where Juiz creates fire from her sword, making Victor realize this was Burn's handiwork. When Fuuko jumps on Victor and explains her Unluck will work faster if it was Andy, Juiz tells everyone to protect her while she was able to bring back Andy and activate her ability. She commands everyone to retreat after Fuuko manages to kiss Andy as there is an incoming meteor shower.
On August 31st, all members of the Roundtable convene as Apocalypse declares the Quest results - however the Union only completed five of the six quests in the set, leading to the addition of a penalty: UMA Galaxy. She tells Move to take everyone to the surface, where they witness the alteration and the beginning of the Ack's invasion. When their leaders asks who represents Earth, Juiz steps up and commands them to leave. The leader fires on Uluru, destroying it as a show of force, Juiz then uses Unjustice to cause all the ships to attack each other, leaving only the leader alive. She mocks him by saying that since her power didn't make him kill himself his vision of justice was "all talk". She finally gives him a message to relay across space: "Keep your hands of planet Earth". The leader leaves, terrified, and there is never another contact with extraterrestrial life.
She then declares to Andy and Fuuko that this marks the 99th penalty and that the 101st will be Ragnarok - furthermore now that there is an 11th seat at the Roundtable, securing another member is crucial since otherwise the next set of Quests will automatically fail. Unburn and Unrepair's locations have been revealed as quest rewards, but they set out to scout Unrepair.
Unrepair Arc
Before they go to a Black Auction where they know a negator is on sale, hoping to contact Unrepair, Juiz invites Fuuko to have tea. They chat and Juiz apologizes to her for sending Void and Shen to kill her, explaining she believed her power had grown too dangerous. She then tells Fuuko that she believes her power could kill God.
Later, when Negator Hunters arrive at the auction, Juiz explains that they are a group seeking revenge against the world.
Unbelievable Arc
After the Four Seasons Quest set is revealed, she begins to prepare a plan when Billy interrupts with a suggestion that they simply nuke the UMAs, as three need to be neutralized and the open participant count implies they will be extremely challenging. The members are horrified at the suggestion of sacrificing millions of civilians, but Billy stands up and fires at everyone at the table. Shortly after, Burn bursts through the ground with Latla and Rip on its shoulder as it takes the Roundtable. Billy reveals himself as the leader of Under and uses Unjustice against Juiz, Andy and Shen. She is forced to injure herself and requests Chikara use Unmove to stop her bleeding. She sends Shen and Phil to guard the artifact storage while Andy and Fuuko engage Billy. Ultimately they manage to force a draw by stealing Apocalypse.
After Under leaves, she asks everyone to reconvene on the surface so she can speak with them. She reveals to them the the world is on a Loop: a cycle of creation and destruction wrought by God. She has used Ark to live past the end of the world as has sought to kill God to end the Loop. Furthermore she says that she wasn't alone, as Victor was with her since the beginning. She apologizes for keeping such information secret, even kneeling and offering her life after the Quests are done, but Shen uses Untruth to make her stand up - everyone still believes in her and Isshin quickly makes a stone roundtable to have their meeting. She specifically sends Andy and Fuuko to investigate a certain text that seems to contain information about the future: To You, From Me by Anno Un, Fuuko's favorite manga.
Autumn Arc
While Fuuko is writing her own manga to infiltrate Shueisha, Juiz offers some help and talks with her about the You-Me. Fuuko mentions that having reread it, the plotholes in the later half of the series are fairly obvious, even before their suspicions - Juiz theorizes that the author intentionally left out information for unknown reasons.
Later, while she is in Anno Un contacts her to train Andy and Fuuko, she initially refuses but is finally convinced by the three of them.
After Anno poves instrumental to capturing Autumn, she explains that he was probably affected by the Reward of the Information Quest when he touched the G-Liner, and gives him her respect.
Winter Arc
After Autumn's capture is confirmed, Juiz uses Move to go to Mount Ararat where Billy and Tella are using Burn to watch over Winter to keep it as their hostage. She offers Billy to return to the Union, explaining her situation with Victor and the Ark. Despite agreeing with her, Billy feeds Burn a Cube to make him enter Phase 2 immediately -she brings out Spoil's core and feeds him a Cube of her own to hold back Burn. She intends to decapitate Billy since he still has Undead, but is angry that he isn't using her power, wondering why he isn't fighting with his all if he betrayed them. She uses Unjustice on him as she goes to finish the fight, but Billy shoots her arm off - Juiz is forced to retreat to Union HQ using Move once again to receive medical attention. She is outfitted with a prosthetic arm shortly after.
Summer Arc
After Summer is killed and the world becomes covered in snow, Tella shows up and shows them Juiz's arm - hoping to make Fuuko hate them to meet Unfair's condition. Juiz tells them to be calm but the attack Tella, which he manages to repel. Tella explains that they'll kill Winter in exchange for the Ark, otherwise millions will die - however Fuuko offers to go with Under to save everyone. Juiz protests this, saying she is pivotal for the Loop, but Fuuko goes on - confident she can succeed even by herself, correctly assessing that since Billy hasn't used Unluck, he hasn't met the condition to copy her power and thus they won't kill her until he does.
Spring Arc
After Andy receives Fuuko's message about Under's members and the date of the raid on Spring, Juiz helps him draw up the match ups between Union and Under, wistfully remembering how Victor also wanted everyone to stay back and let him handle it. When the raid comes, she is matched with Yusai. Once Spring's game with Fuuko begins, she observes the match, fully confident in Fuuko's ability to win.
Ragnarok Arc
As everyone was preparing to go back to base following the neutralization of Spring, Ruin fatally stabs Fuuko Izumo before fleeing. To give Fuuko a chance, she sacrifices all of her points to move Andy and Fuuko to the time of the rewards, which gives out UMA Ghost, allowing Fuuko to continue existing as a ghost, only to be kidnapped by Ruin. With the world now in Ragnarok with the deaths of three of the four Season UMAs, Andy leaves the Union to rescue Fuuko before the end, and Juiz gives him a weapon by throwing it at his chest. Later on, it is shown that both the Union and Under are working together to stave off Ragnarok as long as they can by gathering UMAs, only for Ghost to manipulate Nico into betraying everyone by killing all of the captured UMAs.
Eventually, after Fuuko was revived and she and Andy make it to the Roundtable, Juiz greats them before handing the role of leadership to Fuuko, and then explains a way to save everyone and the origins of Andy. After Andy reaffirms his existence and his love for Fuuko, Juiz tearfully realizes they are the ones who will finish the fight against God. She leaves with Andy and Victor to hold back Sun long enough for Fuuko to loop, using the artifact Rebellion to hold Sun back for 5 whole minutes before dying from the strain. As her helmet shatters, her last words to Victor are asking if they can meet again in the next loop.
Union Arc
Juiz is mentioned as one of the Negators Fuuko Izumo wants to save to build the "Ultimate Union".
Unjustice Arc
Due to Juiz hailing from a world where sex and gender were not introduced, following her death, she has been reincarnated into a family that was originally fated to not bear any children, becoming "Julia U. Stitia", a young rich girl who has dreams of her memories. This results in two different UMAs attacking her reincarnation in an attempt to find her.
Abilities
Unjustice (
Master Swordsmanship: Juiz has incredible mastery with swords, honed over millions of years. Alongside her negation, she is able to hold her own against Victor and various UMAs; she is considered one of the strongest negators to ever live.
Enhanced Speed and Reflexes: Juiz has greater speed and reflexes than a normal human, combined with her swordsman ability this allows her to deflect gunshots almost point-blank with her sword.
Equipment
Fierbois Sabre: A sword imbued with the power of UMA Burn.[7] It was stolen following the battle against Billy Alfred in the Winter Arc, but recovered at the start of the Spring Arc.
Prosthetic Arm: A mechanical arm made by Nico Vorgeil to replace the arm she lost in her fight with Billy.
Helmet: Juiz wears a gold and white helmet that covers her eyes - she may lift the visor to use her ability; she seems to have no problem interacting with her environment when the visor is down. The helmet was originally part of a large and bulky set of armor crafted by Victor in an early loop to keep her safe, but she refused, ultimately conceding in wearing the helmet.
