The Language Arc is the twentieth arc of the Undead Unluck manga series, and tenth arc of the 101st Loop Saga. It focus on Master Rule Language's invasion of the Union base, assassination attempt of Ichico Nemuri, and a grudge 4.6 billion years in the making.
Synopsis[]
Following Beast's neutralization, Change demands Soul explain how the Union has become so strong. Soul reveals that the Negators have begun to tap into their own souls to empower themselves and the Master Rules will loose should the Negators master this ability, due to Juiz's Unjustice keeping the other 9 from realizing humanity's potential. To prevent Fuuko and the team from relaying the Soul Rule to anyone else, he reveals to have sent Language over to the Union base to assassinate Ichico, who is the Negator with the greatest knowledge of souls, as well as make Fuuko and the returning team unable to speak.
With Language now in the Union's laboratory, Lan revels she wants revenge on Nico for her defeat in the last loop, and attempts to kill Ichico to make him manifest Unforgettable. After barely surviving the attack thanks to her astral projection, Ichico states her desire to prevent Nico's Unforgettable from manifesting, willing to fight Language as a ghost to do so. The Master Rule then decides to grant Ichico's request by speaking to Fuuko through Apocalypse, threatening her to transfer seats to the scientists. With Ichico and Nico now seated, the Language Neutralization Quest officially begins.
Language then challenges Nico to a special game of Shiritori called "Deadly Rule Shiritori", being able to summon anything they imagine, but with the addition of all 7,000 confirmed languages of the 101st loop. Nico and Ichico are forced to play as Ichico's physical body is slowly dying. While Nico struggles to understand the rules, he manages to set up a dust explosion using the various attacks and objects he and Language summon. However, this does little damage her, and because of the set up of her game of adding more and more languages, she is primed to win thanks to "romanticism" trumping logic. To overcome this, Ichico summons "Unfade", aka Feng Kowloon, with Fuuko grant him the 10th seat to act as the third and final member of the Quest.
While Feng is able to damage Lan, he is also initially unwilling to fight alongside Nico and Ichico, and tells the Master Rule to do her worst. Using the opportunity, she achieves her Phase 3 and adds a new rule to the game of saying two words now. She summons copies of both Gods, but Nico is able to convince Feng to work together, using words to strike back against the fake Gods. Unfortunately, this still isn't enough to defeat the fake Gods, so Ichico concocts a plan involving herself and Feng sacrificing their lives to allow Nico to forcible awaken Unforgettable and revive them. Ichico finally confesses her feelings for Nico before joining with Feng in attacking the fake Gods, with her last act being to summon Apocalypse to allow him to instantly gain the necessary knowledge as he awakens this Negator abilities.
With his Unforgettable even stronger than the last loop due to understanding how souls work, Nico is easily able to repel Lan's fake Gods and revive Feng and Ichico, apologizing to Fuuko for what he did in the last loop. He then states he'll atone by living a happy life despite wielding his Negation power. After Feng one-shots the fake Luna, Lan realizes the danger Nico poses and has the fake Sun go supernova to kill everyone. Fortunately, Nico is able to form a soul-power version of the railgun used to hold back Sun in the previous loop to throw the fake Sun into a wormhole leading back into the Master Room, protecting Earth from it's explosion while reverting Lan further back into her Phase 1 form. Lan ultimately looses on her own terms by saying the word "marriage", due to it ending in a Japanese N, granting Nico and Ichico rings as she fades. Nico and Ichico decide to get married following the battle.
