Negators (否定者 Hiteisha?) are people with the ability to negate certain "Rules" (
Unlike UMAs, characteristics of Negator abilities are not entirely clear. The awakening of the ability is known to usually cause a "tragedy", where the out-of-control ability ruins the bearer's lives in some way, often killing loved ones. Furthermore, upon the death of the Negator, the ability will immediately transferred to another person[1].
While it was initially believed that Sun could completely create Negations, they can actually only affect the "times" at which said person receives it, with the ability actually being imparted by previous Negators[2]. The only exception is Unknown, a ability imparted directly using the G-Liner artifact.
The power of the ability is not absolute, and varies depending on the interpretation of the Negator who uses it. It is in fact linked to the holder's soul, with the experiences of previous holders unconsciously imprinted in it.
The Union and Under are two noteworthy groups that are composed of many different Negators.
Types of Negations[]
Negators come in two types (種類 shurui?):[3]
- Self-Targeting (自己対象 Jiko Taishō?) — Their Negator power can only be used on themselves, like their body or mind.
- External-Targeting (他対象 Ta Taishō?) — Their power affects anyone or anything other than themselves.
These types can be categorized even further based on their method of activation:
- Compulsory Activation-type (強制発動型 Kyōsei Hatsudō-gata?).[4] The power activates when its condition is met, regardless of the user's wishes.
- Voluntary Activation-type (任意発動型 Nin'i Hatsudō-gata?).[5] The power activates when its condition is met and the user wills it.
