The Sick Arc is the sixteenth arc of the Undead Unluck manga series, and sixth arc of the 101st Loop Saga. It deals with the recruitment of Rip and Latla by saving Leila from a Master Rule UMA known as Sick. It also formerly introduces the Superior Rules as the Saga's overarching antagonists.

Synopsis

Most of the Union and their family, including Bau, enter the Roundtable to fast forward to the next Negators, except for Isshin the 12th, who stays behind due to wanting to see his granddaughter grow up. Afterwards, Fuuko heads to Paris to meat with Latla, who they had met previously during Fuuko's travels, and just before the time skip had tasked the fortune teller to hone her skills to become a vessel for her Negator ability, and to ensure Rip does the same.

The 101st version of Rip, having mastered his skills as a doctor, heads to Iseult Hospital to check up on Leila, and later proposes to her. When she along with several other patients suddenly become deathly ill, Fuuko appears and reveals that the source is a powerful UMA known as a "Master Rule". After saving all the patients with his medical skills, he finally talks with Fuuko and later learns the only way to save everyone is to give up being a doctor and awaken Unrepair, with his legs being amputated so he can use the Blade Runner Artifact. After having a day to himself and the Mirah sisters, he resolves himself to become a Negator.

When the next wave of Sick hits the hospital, the trio comes back, but Leila is put in critical condition due to close proximity to Sick's effects. Upon arriving, Fuuko tells Rip to take Leila to the operating room, holding back Sick, who had appeared in person. Just before Rip can start the procedure, his and Latla's Negator abilities awaken, but Rip is stopped from touching Leila with his powers thanks to Sean and Chikara being there while the rest of the Union appears to back up Fuuko and take down Sick.

Because of Sick's status as a Master Rule, defeating them seems impossible thanks to their regeneration, and infects several of the members while pinning down the rest. Rip and Latla appear, and its shown that they have shared the artifact by having one of their legs amputated to fight the UMA while Fuuko operates on Liela to both save her and bait the Master Rule. Despite Sick managing to play smart, Latla's Negator ability, revealed as "Untrust", redirects the attacks so that Sick can get bisected by the upgraded Blade Runner's attack. However, Sick makes Fuuko accidentally evoke her Unluck and cause a meteorite to fall on the hospital. As Fuuko orders everyone to protect the civilians, a hand suddenly appears and reforms into Andy, it being a clone sent by the original him to help turn the tide, working with the other Negators in nearly killing Sick. However, Move helps Sick escape at the last moment because Undead makes the fight against them "too boring". After Sick is repelled and Leila is saved, the Andy clone sacrifices himself to destroy the meteor with an Unluck-summoned comet disintegrating the both of them. Fuuko then jumps down into the gate Move summoned for Sick, finding herself in the Roundtable of the Ten Master Rules, the "Master Room".

While there, Fuuko tries attacking them, only for the attack to not even reach. Seeing this as proof that they can only fight each other during Quests, she asks where Andy is. The first Master Rule, impressed by Fuuko's resolve, reveals that Andy is in fact on the Sun itself, sitting on a sunspot and using his soul to keep them at bay until he was weak enough for Sick, the weakest of them all, to manifest during a Quest. However, because of the clone Andy created, the seal on the Master Rules have weakened further, meaning more will appear in another Quest. Satisfied, Fuuko leaves through the gate as it closes and vows to negate them all so the Union can save Andy.

Later on, Rip and Leila marry, but Rip also proposes to Latla as well, because he wants the three of them to be happy together. Afterwards, Rip and Latla officially join the Union as thanks for saving them. Nico then states their next step is saving Andy, and Fuuko reveals their new plan; rescue and recruit Enjin so that his Unburn can allow them to fly to the Sun and rescue Andy.
