—Spoil to the Union, Chapter 14 |
Spoil (スポイル Supoiru?) is the Phenomenon-Type UMA that embodies spoiling and decay.
He is the titular antagonist of the Spoil Arc.
Appearance[]
As a core, Spoil appears as a football-sized sphere with sharp teeth, a single eye and three vents from which it can use its ability.
During its First Phase, Spoil constructs a humanoid shell out of rotting material; it had taken residence within the Longing church and as such its face appeared as an angel statue.
During its Second Phase, Spoil gains a proper body of its own, the body is mostly black with metallic highlights and now possesses wings. His head becomes more humanoid but retains the single eye, it also gains long "hair" made of a tar-like substance, as well as a halo of spikes.
Personality[]
Spoil believes that death is beautiful and enjoys watching others die. Like all UMA he has a disdain for humans and a desire to make them suffer. Spoil is particularly boastful about his status as one of "the rules themselves" and belittles negators, feeling insulted when he has to cooperate with Juiz and going into a rage when told hes at a disadvantage against Burn. He mocks Burn when Unjustice reveals he feels indebted to Billy, he also mentions some resentment towards Winter, saying "Concept-Type UMAs are always looking down on [us] Phenomenon-Types".
Plot[]
History[]
In a previous loop of the world, he fought Victor, Juiz, Void, and Gina.
Spoil Arc[]
Spoil arrives in Longing and comments the town will be easy to spoil and decides to start with the people, cursing everyone in range and causing them to turn to zombies.
Andy, Fuuko and Shen arrive in Longing for a quest given by Apocalypse. Andy gets cursed while fighting zombies, but one is willing to tell him where Spoil is. She takes him to the church to marry him, but then asks him to kill everyone to save them and then to kill a statue she points to. Andy then cuts the statue, revealing to be the face of Spoil, who is annoyed that Andy isn't spoiling and realizes he is a negator. Andy then starts fighting Spoil, telling the zombies he will be taking Spoil down and they are free to join him.
While they fight Spoil, a zombie accidentally touches Fuuko and as he gets on Spoil, it causes an incident hurting himself and Spoil. Seeing that Andy announces that if the zombies touch Fuuko, they will turn into bombs and will harm Spoil more than they have been doing so far. The female zombie then hugs Fuuko and runs towards Spoil, who grabs her, but slips and falls into a building full of gunpowder and causes a big explosion.
Fuuko starts touching zombies, who rush at Spoil and cause additional explosions. Spoil then inhales the rest of the zombies and transforms into phase two and shoots a beam that disintegrate the Statue of Liberty from few miles away. Andy jumps in to fight him but realizes that Spoil now has a field around him that causes anything to start decomposing and gets knocked down. Spoil realizes this is a quest and is annoyed that Apocalypse is meddling with his plans. He tells Fuuko that before he was born, there was no decay in the world, but now people don't take life for granted and do their best to live even one more day. He wonders why she is so attached to her body, and she explains it's because she has a dream of being a normal girl. As she shares her dream, her numbers on her stomach from Spoil's curse increase. Shen then comes with Nyoi-Kinko Staff, commenting that he can reach it with it and starts attacking Spoil from distance, while extending the staff. Shen activates his ability and Spoil starts to wonder why his body isn't listening to him as Shen's ability causes him to do the opposite of what he wants to do. Spoil is angered such ability exist, Untruth. Seeing the overwhelming strength of Spoil, Shen is excited as that way he may meet Victor. Shen explains that they need to take out the core of Spoil, but they need to stop his spoil ability first, and Fuuko suggests they go to space. Spoil manages to break free from Shen's ability, by destroying some buildings and causing a dust clouds, blocking Shen's vision. But with Mui's help they locate him and using the staff, he extends it and sends both Victor and Spoil.
In space, Spoil tries to disintegrate Andy, but as he had removed his card, he regenerates instantly, and his hair grows and becomes darker. He shoots two of his fingers and they regenerate into copies of himself and cuts Spoil to piece and takes its core. As he comes back to Earth, Shen tells Mui to beam away Spoil and they capture him.
Summer Arc[]
While Billy and Tella are camping around Winter to hold it hostage, Juiz arrives through one of Move's portals. She tries to talk Billy into joining the Union again but he refuses, using a Cube to make Burn enter second phase instantly. Juiz had brought along Spoil's core and uses her own Cube, telling him to restrain Burn but to be careful as he is at a disadvantage. Spoil is insulted by this and fires his Disintegration Beam at Burn, who is unaffected and punches Spoil; Juiz tells him fire can't spoil so he must engage him physically. After Burn protects Juiz when affected by Unjustice, Spoil belittles him for feeling indebted to a human, Burn argues for a moment before firing at the cloud cover, revealing the sun, telling Spoil he wants to meet their Creator just once. Spoil finds this silly, but after Juiz loses her arm he is brought back to the Union HQ by Move, where he is presumably imprisoned again.
Abilities[]
Decay: Spoil can cause any organic matter that enters into his radius to spoil away at will.
- Zombification: Spoiling living beings is harder than inanimate objects, so Spoil instead places a timer on humans in his range, this timer usually begins with a thousand seconds (about 15 minutes). Once the timer reaches zero, the humans will spoil into zombies. The timer can be increased by focusing on truly held dreams about the future, as shown with the Longing children. When turned into zombies people are in constant pain and driven into madness, however it is possible to retain their identity and consciousness. Zombies speak some kind of language only other zombies can understand.
Disintegration Beam: In his second form, Spoil can fire a laser the disintegrates anything it hits instantly. It seems the beam itself has no penetrative power and can only reach deeper into an object by spoiling away obstructions, since Shen was hit on his glove but was able to take it off in time to remain unaffected.
Spoil Field: In his second form, Spoil has a field around his body that spoils living things who get close instantly.
Regeneration: Spoil is able to regenerate damage or even the entire body as long as its core exists.
Wings: Spoil has wings that he uses to fly great heights and to protect himself from attacks.
Immense Strength: Spoil has great physical strength befitting its colossal size managing to rival UMA Burn.
Immense Durability: Spoil has great physical durability consistent with its colossal size, managing to withstand several attacks by Shen and Andy before being defeated.
